Longcase clock with balloon on dial

This clock dates from about 1818. It has a painted dial which is typical for the period. What makes it unusual is that it features a hot air balloon painted in the arch, probably at the request of the customer who bought the clock. William Woodcock was one of the last clockmakers, rather than just a retailer, who worked in Colchester.
