all year round Sun 11am - 5pm.
We aim to open all galleries at all times. Occasionally, galleries need to be closed at short notice due to conservation, maintenance works or events. If you are coming to the Museum to see something in a specific gallery, you are advised to call the following number in advance to check before you travel: 01206 282939
We apologise that the Natural History Museum will be closed from 7th – 27th June, due to the installation of under floor heating. The museum will re-open on 28th June. Hollytrees Museum and the Castle Museum will be open as usual.

to find us
The
Natural History Museum is situated opposite the main gates to the
Castle Park at the eastern end of the High St. The nearest car parks
are St Botolph's, Britannia and Osborne Street. The museum is a
five minute walk from the bus station and Colchester Town railway
station.
