Caddy
Spoons
The
Lewer Collection, given to the museum in 1949, contains over
300 spoons. They were used to measure tea from a storage container,
known as a caddy, into a teapot. The spoons, mostly made of
silver and dating between 1750 and 1830, are an exquisite
reminder of how tea, because of its high cost, used to be
a symbol of wealth.
