The
St. Osyth Green Lady
This medieval wall painting came from St. Osyth and shows
a young women dressed in green. It was painted about 1395
on a plaster wood panel. Although wall paintings were by no
means uncommon in wealthy medieval housholds very few have
escaped the ravages of time. The St. Osyth Green Lady is therefore
an extremely rare survival of an early medieval English painting.
