Coins of Cunobelin
These
are coins struck by the King Cunobelin who reigned at Colchester
about AD 10-40. Cunobelin was the most powerful of all the
kings that ruled in Britain prior to the Roman invasion. The
coins show on one face an ear of corn, and on the other a
prancing horse. The abbreviated names of the king (CVNO) and
the ancient name for Colchester, Camulodunum, (CAMV) are also
shown on the coins.
