This
is a bronze vessel found buried in an area known as the Hilly
Fields on the outskirts of Colchester. It belongs to the period
known as Middle Bronze Age and dates to about 1250 BC. It
is one of the earliest bronze cauldrons in northern Europe
and marks the start of sheet metal-working.
